Broadland District Council Chief Executive Colin Bland went “back to the shop floor”
on Thursday 4 February to highlight his council’s support for Apprenticeship Week 2010. He joined Stacey Edwards at Juby’s Farm, a local livery yard, to experience some of the work involved in her Equine Apprenticeship.
Shadowing Stacey not only meant learning about her work but also finding out about the qualifications she is studying for. Colin Bland put on his muckers (stable boots) and got stuck in:
“My staff looked for something unusual for me to do for Apprenticeship Week. I had a really good time. Stacey and I mucked out the stables, changed the straw and piled the used straw up outside. Then we fed and watered the horses, changed their rugs and did some grooming.”
