Personnel Administrator

Jodie, Personnel Administrator
Broadland District Council

I began my career at Broadland as an Apprentice. The council offered me a job with day release to study for an NVQ Level 3 in Personnel Support and gain valuable work experience within the organisation at the same time. After I completed my Apprenticeship I was offered further employment and career development to study for my professional personnel qualifications with the Chartered Institute of Personnel (CIPD). Whilst studying, the council pays for all my membership, exam and course fees and allows me two days a month allocated to my studies, plus time off for revision and exams.

The Apprenticeship was an excellent start for me to gain an understanding of the personnel profession and get my foot on the ladder of an exciting career. I believe I have been given a great opportunity at the council as I am gaining knowledge and experience in a wide range of personnel issues, this will give me generalist experience that will easily be applied to many opportunities in the future. Working for the council also means I feel secure in my position and have the benefits of flexible working practices, generous annual leave entitlement and pay for performance.
