Lisa, Coordinator
Herefordshire Council
“I work in the council’s social services department in the Hospital Social Care Team. I deal with all the referrals to our team, coordinate 12 interim care beds and perform all administrative tasks required in the day-to-day running of the office.
To get the job I needed a good general education including GCSE (or equivalent) English and maths at grade C or above. I applied for the job, as it was a brand new post and sounded challenging.
Although it’s quite a time-pressured environment and I have to work to very tight timescales, it’s never boring and no two days are the same. I also work with the most fantastic team of people, which makes it very enjoyable.
I’ve received lots of training whilst working for the council including several IT courses, health and safety, first aid, presentation skills and many more.
I’m a bit uncertain about where I want to go next. I have just embarked on a course to improve my study skills and may consider a foundation degree after this with a view to completing a degree in social work later on.”
