Apprenticeships – earning and learning

Apprenticeship Week 1-5 February 2010

Apprenticeship Week, organised by the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS), celebrates the talents and skills of apprentices. It sees apprentices, employers, providers and all those involved with Apprenticeship programmes come together to celebrate the value of Apprenticeships. During the week, there’s a range of national and regional activities, including employer events, job swaps, breakfast briefings and apprentice challenges.

Apprenticeships are a great opportunity to earn and learn at the same time. Doing an Apprenticeship enables you to train on-the-job and gain practical skills, while also studying for nationally recognised qualifications.

Local government offers a variety of different Apprenticeships in occupations such as social care, customer service, business administration, ICT, childcare, catering and trades like joinery or plastering.
