Fay, Sports Development Officer

My name is Fay Whall and I’m a sports development officer for positive futures. I think I’m growing up, which is good. I came from school quite young and came to the job young and I’m the youngest member of the team, but I’m appreciated as much as the other members of the team and I just enjoy being part of the team.

Positive futures today, home & office and crime concern initiative which aims to engage youth people who are at risk of offending, to engage them in sport and other means of physical activity.

I was quite popular at school; I was the captain of the all sports teams, from the athletics team, to netball, rounders, hockey & football, but didn’t really enjoy them as I think I should have done. From what other people say that “school was the best time of my life”, I kind of look back and think it wasn’t for me.

I applied for a job within sports development as a trainee, which I was successful in and this August I was promoted into the sports officer post.

I think I’m enthused that I actually go to church, which enthuses me in my job. My beliefs are completely against what these young people are doing, but I have a good faith in them, I have a faith in my religion but I have a good faith in the young people I work with as well. I don’t ever give up on them.

My hope and aspiration is that I could continue the good work that I’m doing and just keep my enthusiasm and keep my determination and I know from that I can go further and move up.
