My name’s Bobby Quinn and I’m a family information service outreach development worker. We give advice on any kind of family services for people who are pregnant, right through to those who have children aged 19.
When I was at school I didn’t have much clue of what I wanted to do. If I’m honest I did kind of fall in to this line of work. I left school after sixth form and got an office junior’s job in an advertising office, which I hated if I’m honest; it really was not my sort of thing at all and I was very pleased when I left it.
Then I got a job, actually at the job centre, that was again clerical, but from that I moved into actually dealing with the public and being on front line services. It is very rewarding, it does give you a chance to get out and meet people. You learn a lot about life and you learn a lot about your own community and everyday is different, so if you’re looking for something that isn’t routine, then it’s the sort of thing you should consider.
If I could do anything at all… learn the trapeze probably; go back to my original aspiration, I don’t know. I’d just like to continue what I’m doing, enjoy what I’m doing, being good at what I do.
