Tony, Environmental Protection Officer
Broadland District Council
I originally joined the council on a temporary contract after finishing my degree in environmental health. Since then, I have had the opportunity to progress and study for professional qualifications. I am now a permanent member of the environmental protection team and have settled in well.
The council has really supported me and I have continually progressed in my role. I am taking on more responsibility and enjoy having the chance to help people with their pollution problems. These can range from noisy neighbours to bad smells or rats!
No two days are the same and the work is very interesting. Although it’s hard work, it’s extremely rewarding and opens up many different opportunities such as pollution, recycling, food safety and many more.
