The LGtalent.com website that includes LGcareers.com, LGjobs.com, the local government talent pool and LGskills, is managed by the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) in partnership with Jobsgopublic.

The IDeA works for local government improvement so councils can serve people and places better.

We use experienced councillors and senior officers - known as peers - who support and challenge councils to improve themselves.

We enable councils to share good practice through the national Beacons Scheme and regional local government networks. The best ideas are put on the IDeA Knowledge website.

Our Leadership Academy programmes help councillors become better leaders who can balance the diverse demands of people living in the same community.

The IDeA also promotes the development of local government’s management and workforce. We advise councils on improving customer service and value for money. We help councils work through local partnerships to tackle difficult problems such as crime and poor public health.

The IDeA is owned by the Local Government Association and belongs to local government. Together we lead local government improvement.

The aim of the LGtalent websites is to provide councils with a dedicated job vacancy website; promote local government as an employer of choice and provide a careers information website and materials; and offer councils online talent pools, skills audit and development tools and communities of practice to share knowledge and learning - all of which enable councils to improve through effective talent management.
